When Michelle Obama moves into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Many people will analyze her every move, looking to validate preconceived notions about our new First Lady. Although I'm sure most of this attention will be motivated by the historic nature of the Obama presidency, there will be some who will only see what they want to. To be honest, I'll be one of the gawkers- watching an amazing woman living out a life we could only dream about before November 4th.
From reading about lady Obama's past, I think we'll all be surprised again and again by her intelligence and strong sense of duty to family and country. Most reports suggest that she will be less obviously involved with policy than Hillary Clinton as First Lady, spending most of her time managing the family and working with charitable organizations she supports. She has mastered the role of supportive spouse and will lend all her strength to her husband during what promises to be a time of national restoration.
My goal with this blog is to highlight Mrs. Obama's contributions to our country's culture. Weather it be though personality, fashion, or her example as a strong woman. I will focus on her as a person who represents the standards young women can model as they themselves make choices that will impact our future.
I hope you will add this blog to your RSS reader and comment as well. Thanks for reading!
